Cecily's One Month "Birthday" Party!

Cecily is four weeks old today, and we decided that that was all the reason that we needed to have a little party! Ok, it was really dessert for everybody except Cecily, but still! Here are some photos:

And then there were three...

Adjusting to the new reality. Cecily can already sleep through the madness.
Hi everybody; sorry we've been MIA, but we've been a bit busy the last couple of weeks adjusting to being outnumbered (Kirk is already used to it, but still). Cecily was born on Sunday May 17th at 4:44am at Aga Khan University Hospital here in Nairobi. Yes, she has a Kenyan birth certificate, but she's still an American citizen. (Aunt Taytee says that she's African-American.) She weighed 3800 grams (8 pounds, 6 ounces) and was 50.5 cm long (just under 20 inches).

We're very lucky to have Taytee and Nana here to help, and we've also been running around showing them some of the sights here in Nairobi. Here are some pictures!

Claire's ballet recital:

Claire and her teacher, Miss Trony.
The girls were very excited to be big sisters!

Our midwife, Amanda; she was such a huge help!

Fairy outfits that Cecily gave us!

The preschool classes put on an end-of-the-year show.

Claire and her friend Aisha.

Miss Ross, Claire's amazing teacher, interviewed every student during the show.

Introducing Taytee and Nana to the boys at I. Afrika. We also introduced the boys to s'mores.

We've also been eating lots of yummy food!

Cotton candy at a craft faire at the Karen Blixen House.

Sneaking a cookie.

Purple is her favorite color, so we had a lot of purple cookies.

Ice cream at Diamond Plaza after a crazy lunch.

This picture was mainly for the background, to show how people who sit down are mobbed by the waiters from all the different restaurants at Diamond Plaza. A lot of food courts operate like this: survival of the pushiest.

Ethiopian food at Habesha.

Trying camel's milk with Taytee.

Petting the elephants at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. (We're going back another day to tuck one in!)

Feeding giraffes at the giraffe center.

We had lunch at the Kazuri bead factory, and Katie made a new friend.

And for those of you who've been asking for more pictures...

We're closer to DC than we knew...

Building forts.

Playing on the playground at Brackenhurst.

Daddy and his girls.

Bright eyed.

Be careful where you buy your meat. Gives new meaning to the phrase "mystery meat."
Hanging out with her glowworm.
