Soup Night

We had the third edition of our annual Soup Night this afternoon, and this time we invited everyone in the community. We ended up with around 80 people in our backyard to enjoy some soup and getting to know each other better. The theme this year was lots of color and fun-we got to highlight some beautiful fabrics that we have collected (there are so many textiles to love in Kenya!) It was relaxed and fun, with lots of laughter. The weather, after threatening rain all day, stayed dry; even when it looked like it was about to pour on us, it seemed to go around.

For soups, we had African Peanut, Butternut Squash, Chili, Carrot Ginger, Tortilla, two different Corn Chowders, Pumpkin, and another flavor that we can't remember right now. Too much party planning and prep in the last two days!

Here a sampling of photos to give you an idea of what our time was like!

Seven of the nine soups that we had.

Lots of yummy bread!

Two of the women had birthdays, so we all sang to them before eating.

Cecily had a grand time playing under the table with all of the pot lids.

We even had lots of help cleaning up, and the evening ended with Ainsley getting some one-on-one story time.
