A few weeks ago, at lunchtime this girl asked, "how can I contact the Mexican government?" Um, what? Turns out that her assignment to research an endangered animal led her to find that laws are already in place in both America and Mexico to protect the overfishing of certain fish, which is leading to the inadvertent deaths of Vaquita (the largest marine mammal in the Gulf of Mexico). So... we used our time this break to research which government officials in both countries may have some sway in this area. They can expect a letter from her soon! (She even included a basic letter template in her presentation so classmates could also join her in this cause). So proud of her-she teaches us so much and pushes us to be responsible humans!
